U.S. Acquisition of Colin Medical Instruments Corporation

 

Acquisition Integrates Medical Workplaces with Patient Homes

 

 

 

    BANNOCKBURN, Ill., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Omron Healthcare, Inc. today

 announced the completion of the acquisition of San Antonio-based Colin Medical

 Instruments Corporation (CMI).  The announcement follows Omron Healthcare Co.

 Ltd.'s (Kyoto, Japan) acquisition of Colin Medical Technology Corporation

 (Komaki, Japan) in June 2005.

     "The acquisition of CMI enables Omron Healthcare to become a unique

 company providing a wide range of product offerings in medical devices for use

 in hospitals and in the home," said Isao Ogino, CEO of Omron Healthcare, Inc.

 "By addressing the needs of the medical professional and the consumer, Omron

 Healthcare is providing comprehensive healthcare solutions to all sites of

     While CMI's production function will continue, through this acquisition,

 CMI's sales and marketing functions will be transitioned to Omron Healthcare.

 Colin(R) products include vital signs monitors, inpatient blood pressure

 monitoring devices and vascular screening devices -- all used in the

 professional setting. Omron Healthcare's home healthcare products include

 Omron(R) brand blood pressure monitors, respiratory, weight management and

 thermometry products.

     As the number of Americans with lifestyle-related diseases such as

 hypertension and diabetes continues to increase, the need for comprehensive

 healthcare solutions is greater than ever before.

     New areas of focus that will be created by this acquisition include:

 

     -- Enabling clinicians to assess arterial stiffness through products

        utilizing Colin and Omron Healthcare technologies;

     -- Identifying opportunities to connect the consumer and the clinician for

        more effective healthcare management.

 

     Omron Healthcare's acquisition is also intended to enrich its current

 business by:

 

     -- Expanding its blood pressure monitoring business;

     -- Continuing to strengthen its brand by promoting its blood pressure

        monitoring technology and products for the medical workplace (hospitals
